What’s in a name? You tell us!
As part of our 20 Years of Go anniversary celebration, we created this blog to celebrate all things travel. Featuring tips, city highlights, featured tours and destinations, stories and world events, this blog is one more way in which you can join the conversation, learn about the world and satisfy your wanderlust.
Technically speaking, what is a blog? Well, “blog” is short for “weblog.” Most blogs are used as industry journals, personal stories or business newsletters that are updated regularly with articles and posts that are relevant to the purpose of the blog. Our blog’s purpose, as stated above, is to celebrate travel and share exciting things about world discovery with you—stories, tips, articles and so much more.
We encourage you to read and comment on articles you like, and contribute to our posts by adding your voice, thoughts and opinions to the comments.
What’s more, by helping us name this blog, you could win a free trip for two on any Go Ahead tour! Keep in mind, the name should reflect our mission to break down barriers and create life-enriching travel experiences. You can enter online at goaheadtours.com/go until April 16, 2010. Good luck!

With Go Ahead Tours, you really can “Go Ahead and Travel!”
With Go Ahead Vacations…..Let the Good Times Roll! All the fun and excitment of a vacation withouth the headache of the details! Adult vacation at an adult pace!
I wanted to reply that I enjoyed Jane’s article about her trip to Africa – the land that always seemed magical to me!
Glad to see GoAhead has a blog for all to share their experiences and travel info.
I would love to travel with Go Ahead.
My longed for trip to Europe was postponed due to Sept. 11, 2001, and I am still waiting to fulfill my dream. Hopefully I can soon resume plans to begin to “see the world”, while I can still enjoy the adventure!
Go Ahead Tours itineraries allow you time for organized activities and for individual time to explore on your own. The very best combination.
Go Ahead Tours were the right Tour Company when my daughter and her best friend and I decided to experience the wonders of Egypt. We totally immersed ourselves in the ancient history as well as the present day culture of this awe-inspiring country. Thanks to Go Ahead we were able to enjoy every minute without the concerns that many travelers experience in a foreign country.
I have been planning to travel to Egypt with Go Ahead Tours for almost five years–much to the consternation of my mother. Thus, your comment about not having to worry about the concerns in a foreign country will add to my defense. Thank you! While my husband is not as passionate about ancient world history as I am, we plan to travel to Egypt in the next three years before we start a family.
I just came back from Egypt and found the people to be the friendliest ever! I’ve traveled extensively and have never felt safer and among friendlier people. Thanks Go Ahead for a truly memorable experience.
Enjoyed reading of Tommy’s travel to the Monastery of Melk. Beautifully described and makes me want to go!!
Home is where you hang your hat between adventures! I love to travel. I would love to try a Go Ahead Tour!
I’m with Elizabeth! Too much work to do and not enough travel!
i recently received the brochure in the post last week and am enthralled and delighted and dream of traveling to europe or australia on one of the tour packages offered. someday soon i hope the dream will become a reality
I am getting married this year so yeah… I would love to go on a honeymoon trip!
I visit Go Ahead Tours almost daily……with my first cup of coffee in the morning!
I start my day the same day, dreaming about my trip and working hard to make it happen
Enjoy with Go Ahead tours!
I’ve traveled twice to Italy with Go Ahead Tours, and those experiences are amongst the best in my 50 years of traveling!
Where do we go to submit entry to name the blog??? It is very confusing
See the colors of the world. The dept and dimentions of your imagination come to life. Go Ahead Tours points you in the directions.to place yourself in a new enviornment. Your mind creates this picture. Your imagination becomes reality.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step (Tzu)…take the “first step…the first mile” and you’ll never look back only foward and what a journey you’ll have for a life time.
This is an awesome idea for a contest! Can’t wait to share my idea!
I agree and a great promotion!
“Home is not always where the heart is. Where will your heart take you? Go ahead tours will give you the opportunity to discover your own heart. “
I think the perfect name for your blog is “Passion for Travel”. As I read the blogs from your recent travelers, there is a tone about them that resonates among them – a passion for their experience, a passion for the people they encountered, a passion for the opportnities that Go Ahead Tours has provided them, and a passion for travel as a whole.
Passion – There is no greater word to descibe the true feelings one has for encountering new experiences and new worlds.
To EMBRACE THE WORLD is the sole purpose of GoAhead Tour Company.
As we travel from land to land, we absorb all that is offered to us. We become part of that place FOREVER!
Go ahead tours ideas is to open the mind to its travelers.
Discovering new Cultures and landscapes. Exploring enchanting lands and songs. Test the food and drink life. Seeing all the smiles our world has.
It is also to explore our own minds, to quench our thirst until the next adventure we take.
Too see the world is to open our minds and hearts to every places wee visit and see.
Go ahead tours is the perfect name for this adventure company, I always feel like I am going ahead in one of their tours.
I agree with you wholeheartedly; I am ready to make the world mine… through hard work and saving up for it!! I hope Go Ahead Tours will take me out to meet the world!!!
Travel enoourages open minds. A possible blog name could be “Expand your World with Go Ahead Tours”
Love your enthusiasm! As a former traveler with their sister company (EF Tours – Tuscany & Rome, Paris City Stay, & Madrid City Stay), I wholeheartedly agree with your philosophy! Their company is the best!
Everything’s in a “name.” When someone says “GoAhead Tours,” the name says it all to those of us who have heard all of the great press about you by word of mouth, or have had the opportunity to travel with you.
my mom has travelled with goahead tours, and she has had great experiences. my husband and i are saving up to do a trip ourselves. we can’t wait!
I agree it’s all in the name – be expressive, be creative -
a great contest!
I have been saving up to go on a tour through Ireland. The comments that I read are inspiring to say the least. To see a place unlike any other will be amazing. I am looking forward to my trip.
I worked two jobs to save enough money to go my first tour (Egypt). I loved Go Ahead because they arranged everything. All I had to do was be ready for the adventure. I am now saving up for my next trip. I think it will be Europe this time.
Haven’t you ever just sat there and imagined of being somewhere else? A place that allows you to explore and see new things. A place where you can exist and not be troubled with issues of your ordinary life. A place where your schedule is never the same. A place where one can escape and feel a sense of tranquility knowing that no one knows you and can’t judge you? Well I think that is exactly what Go ahead tours offers in every single package.
Well… having this opportunity to name the blog, I would call it “Go Ahead Tours… a company that gives you endless opportunities to your endless dreams..”
They give you a chance to be free but still have that sense of security that there is someone still there to take care of you if needed. : Þ
Never return home until you have started a plan for your next adventure.
I totally agree, Angela! After our trip this May for my long awaited dream trip to Italy, I plan to start finalizing a trip to Hawaii, then to Ireland. Travel is a way to connect with others around the world.
judy
As we are returning from each of our trips my husband always says “Where should we go next?”
That is so true! I am planning a goaheadtour, but I don’t know which one to choose! Any suggestions?
go 4 the true, classic one: take the london, paris, rome: in the late 1800′s that was part of the european grand tour n a slow way. Today, ur tour is smashed n2 9 or 10 days of eye-opening moments; the food is great, too.
Paris, Provence and Nice was a wonderful first trip to France. I can assure you–you will want to return. A great mix of city, countryside and seaside introductions to France. Wonderful!!!!
just reading your entries makes me want to travel
Travel and adventure is a part of who we are. When I meet someone who has never traveled anywhere, let alone out of their state, it is hard to imagine. Seeing different places, people, food, culture is a needed part of life for me and my family. Thank you for providing a place to learn and connect with others who have the same passion.
Travel enriches life – so simple.
I love this quote by St. Augustine..so true! “The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
I got the travel bug last year, which was the first time I had gotten a passport. Now I want to go everywhere.
Reading these travel tales reminded me of a dozen wonderful stories from my trips. Thanks for the reminder of what travel can do for you.
Any suggestions about going to Viet Nam? Our children are traveling and we are to meet them in June in Viet Nam. I am not sure what to expect.
Lee
Thanks for sharing these personal moments.
I think the blog should be called “The Wanderlust”. Anyone who has travelled on a Go Ahead tour knows you long to go again… Our memories will last a lifetime.
The blog gives a place for others to recall their experiences and in doing so, inspiring fellow sojourners to new travel dreams of their own .
You’ve seen the signs, Will work for Food? Well.. I will work
for travelling money! There is a big old world out there and I want to see a lot of it!!! And thanks to Go Ahead I have. The Best of France & Italy 2009
Very good points
As I travel the world with Go-Ahead Tours I feel I am on the greatest adventure of my life. And then there’s my next tour and that again is the “greatest ever.” Life is not complete unless one sees the world – and Go-Ahead does it best!!!
How beautiful!
I think this is a great place to plan my dreams.
It is my goal to utilize the services of Go Ahead Tours….someday….I just need to decide if I want to go back to Italy or a different European destination.
I loved my “Walking Tour of Tuscany,” now two years ago. This was just the best way to travel … we hit all the best places, saw a unique view of the country, and had none of the planning hassles. Plus, I couldn’t imagine a better tour guide! Next up – Peru!!
I love reading blogs, its a great way to get very direct information about a company or event and to keep current. Congrats on the blog and the new contest!
Will be going on the Australia/New Zealand/Fiji tour in the summer for my honeymoon.
Can’t wait, I’m pumped!!!
I love to travel. Blogs are very useful when traveling to a new city.
Very entertaining and touching to read the blogs. Wonderful prose
“sekai” means “world” in Japanese. When I travel, I am seeing the world. I am learning about different cultures and trying different foods. SEKAI!!!
I love reading the stories people send in about their travels.
I just wanted travelers to know that my husband and I traveled with Go Ahead and really enjoyed how much of the details were taken care of—-nice to just relax and enjoy a trip without any worries.
Great Idea. I’m excited to share my idea
I think Go Ahead Tours is an amazing travel group. They have a wonderful reputation and have helped many travelers worldwide. This blog contest is a great idea and what a way to give back to it’s customers!
Love the idea of a blog name contest..I hope you guys like mine
I took two tours with GATours..had a blast. If you get a chance to go to Morocco..DO IT!! Such an amazing country! Take care. David
Fun idea, I’ll be sure to keep reading your new blog and hope it has my name!
congrats, go ahead! for creating 20 years of happy tourists!
Hopefully the blog will help me stay informed of all the opportunities of Go Ahead. We have had spectacular guides in all our travels with Go Ahead. Keep the new trips coming!
What a great idea – love traveling with you guys
GoAhead and and live you dream–You deserve it.
Great idea for a contest! Everyone on this blog and I all hope we will win.
I love reading blogs about travel. Sometimes they just take you there and it gives you the incentive to plan a trip. Other times, it may change the way you feel about a place. Personal stories mean so much more than a professional travel writer.
Sharing the sake gave the traveler and the local an opportunity to have a shared intimate moment. Saying that the traveler always belonged here is the supreme compliment. I believe that the traveler won the Lottery that day because it is the desire of every traveler to feel a part of the community that visit.
I always read travel blogs before I book hotels and/or resorts. Even though you have comments both negative and positive, it helps to keep your expectations in check!
Some travel blogs provide excellent tips for the novice traveler and can be reassuring for the less adventurous.
I am glad to see that Go Ahead Tours is going this route.
Thanks!
Loved Fables of Ancient Greece.
Looking forward to Machu Picchu in the fall!
Our trip to Spain was a wonderful experience in discovery of the history, the culture and the people. We even discovered new things about ourselves! Go Ahead always provides an excellent adventure. We are looking forward to our Grand Ireland tour this Sept. We are sure it will help us discover some of our roots!
I took the trip to Italy 2 summers ago and it was such a great experience. I can’t wait until I can take the trip to Spain! That is number 1 on my travel list. Go Ahead Tours has done such a great job and I look forward to reading the blog!
Traveling with go ahead is always a great adventure and having all the details taken care of is wonderful
I totally agree. We took the National Parks
Tour with GoAhead, and it was delightful. We did the touring and the GoAhead staff did the rest for us.
Oooh, I SO want to win this………….
Our Journey to Scotland lifted my husband and I to the heavens in this beautiful land. In the evenings along the long walkways off the fields where wars and battles were fought for the freedom of man, amidst the the winds, one could even hear the cry of the Scottish man. To be touched in the heart by the history that lingers in our minds was an amazing experience!
Go Ahead Tours is so helpful. We travelled with them to Italy. It was so nice not having to worry about getting from A to B, lugging our baggage around, etc. We can’t wait to go on our next trip with them!
I have traveled most of the world and the place to do over and over are the African safari. Next trip needs to be to the West Coast of Africa, some place with fewer tourists, and more travelers. Best advice, don’t take pictures of the ears and top of the heads of hippos, they just looks like rocks..
My husband an I have travelled with Go Ahead to Italy and Sicily. We took our daughter and grandson, on one occasion . All of us had a marvelous and memorable vacation. It does’nt matter if you are 17 or 70 a Go Ahead vacation is the way to go. We made four trips to Italy and were never disappointed in our tours, hotels, or tour guides. Go Ahead took care of all of our needs, from scheduling our flights, making insurance arrangements, selecting first class hotels, handling our luggage and transfers and provided assistance with tour recommendations. Go Ahead is the only way to travel with compete peace of mind.
I love all the information I ‘ve been receiving from Go Ahead
Tours.I look forward to using their service in the future.
Way to Go Go Ahead!!!
I’m with you Fran!
I am so looking forward to our travel experience with Go Ahead on our Magic of Italy tour in September……..may just change my life.
i love reading all the wonderful adventures travelers experience on your tours!
Our tour guide in Ireland was so knowledgable abot her country and a gracious hostess. We look forward to taking another tour with Go Ahead Tours in the near future. We are hoping to go on an African photo safari.
I dream of visiting Greece, anyone going soon?
Jennifer, from California, brought back wonderful memories of our trip to Rome – right down to the hot chocolate next to the Pantheon. Venice, Florence, Rome – the trip of a lifetime!
You know I have a BA and an MBA but the most life altering educational experiences I’ve had came on the weeks spent in Italy, Greece, and later Japan. It taught me that the world is bold, beautiful and that I am far more unique than I orginally assumed.
Blog name entry:
“Grab your passport and immerse yourself!”
Go Ahead Tours is such a great company to travel with!
Can’t wait to take my first tour with you!
Great idea for a contest & I’m happy to have discovered GoAhead’s blog. Going to read many of the articles as I plan my next vacation!
Go Ahead Tours has made it possible for me to live the dream and travel to foreign shores all with the safety net and security help of a wonderful company. Took the fear out of travel to the unknown.
All these stories are great! Thanks!
Always great to hear others’ recommendations of their travel experiences. It helps give me ideas of where we want to go next. Thanks to all who inspire!!
We had the best time on our tour of Ireland:) The balance between organized and free time was wonderful. Our tour guide was so accomodating..and so interesting with historical tidbits and funny little anecdotes……. A trip of a lifetime…..
Thanks for having such fun promotions and contests. Love your e-mails. Just getting the descriptions of the trips makes me long for far away shores.
I have put off touring since 2004 but have stayed with the program and this summer will be my year, I ve delayed gratification long enough. Andiamo!!!
Have traveled to Costa Rica and Italy with GoAhead. Both wonderful, wonderful adventures with experienced guides and pleasant companions.
I am not much of a blogger, but I am interested in others opinions about possible travel sites. I think this is a great way to choose a vacation based on others positive experiences.
I’m so glad you decided to “go ahead” with a blog
“There is a fine line between dreams and reality, it’s up to you to draw it.” – B. Quilliam
I have never left the continent of my birth, and for that I am sorry! It is not because I have been completely wanting of opportunity. I must confess that I have been negligent in saving for a trip to- well, anywhere. I’ve spent money on other things.
I tell myself that my heart values travel because it nourishes the soul and is good inspiration for writing. And yet, if that were true, why is it taking me so long to get going?
Maybe it’s not really knowing which getaway to choose first out of so many. Or perhaps it is not really acknowledging what I’m missing; or a combination of both.
Well, reading some of the comments reminds me of what I am missing. Most of the things I write about are places I dream up, but have never seen:
Running in a forest green,
Glitter to me like the moonbeams..
The air is crisp
And my heart it chases
with launching whisps
in endless mazes
What wonder to actually experience the things I’ve read on this page, firsthand!
Perhaps then, I would be drawing my own very fine line between my dreams and reality.
This traveling agency should stay exactly as it is and keep up the good work for all the sentient souls still at home!
My first time with go ahead tours exceeded my expectations, for when we arrived in Costa Rica we were escorted by pros who knew the country well, and went out of their way to ensure we were pleased with each new encounter. I would recommend Go Ahead tours to people from all walks of life for their primary concern is to see that you have a great holiday.
I have been wanting to travel overseas for the past five years now, but it never fails something comes up and plans change. Awesome idea for this contest.
The picture on your website are very warm and inviting. I was ready to take a trip when I saw the package deals. Hope to take my dream trip to spain in the future
Go Ahead Tours does a fabulous job of visitng Peru. Any of you that have the desire to see th e Ancient wonder of Machu Pichu must take the journey safely with Go Ahead. You will never regret the experience. Loved every minute!!
Irresistible, warm blogs that could only have been written by soulful explorers in their photographic quests.
I’m reminded of what a poet and mystic once wrote:
“To see the world in a grain of sand
and a heaven in a wild flower
Catch infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour . . .”
I am not surprised to read the overwhelming accolads for Go Ahead. My husband and I traveled throughout Europe with Go Ahead & loved every minute of it. Paul, our guide, cared for each and every one of us like we were his family. We had an introduction to each city via local guides and also had lots of free time to explore on our own. This is how we like to travel. We’re planning our next trip to Africa with Go Ahead and especially enjoyed Joanne’s account of her trip to Africa. We recommend Go Ahead to everyone we meet.
I’m very excited about this contest and I can’t wait until my fiance and I are able to take a tour someday soon!
I love all the insight you can get in these blogs. It is amazing how just a little homework on GoAhead Tours website makes your trip even better!
I’ve wanted to travel and see the world ever since I could remember. Reading customer’s reviews of their
own travels really gets me excited for my first trip to Europe this summer. There were a lot of good ideas and info posted.
Thanks.
We have taken three trips with Go Ahead and are planning a fourth trip this fall–this time to India. Go Ahead has fantastic tour leaders, excellent itineraries–everything that more expensive tours offer, but at an amazing price. To quote St. Augustine, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.”
I can’t wait for my next chance to travel with GoAhead, and this contest might help get me there if I win.
Looking forward to our first European trip with GoAhead Tours! Thanx for offering that personal touch!
I cannot wait to book my trip with Go Ahead Tours. It goes far beyond the “booking” with Go Ahead. I love to read and share stories with other travellers. Hearing about others experiences from start to finish really helps in planning where, when, and how to Go! It helps knowing they are there from start to finish. It’s not just about “buying the tour” but it’s about keeping in touch afterwards and getting continual information about places all over the world. Cant wait! Thanks Go Ahead!!!
I love goahead tours. I need to win this giveaway so I can take my bride on her dream honeymoon to Italy’s Wine Country.
Boldly go where you’ve never been before! And everything will be different.
Tommy’s comments about his visit to Melk brought back fons memories of my visit there with Go Ahead.
In addition to the opulent beauty he described, my group
had time for a delicious lunch there.
Tex Badkins – Norfolk, Virginia
love to travel with my family….it’s not always about the place but about the experience…
I wanted to write more on why I decided on my contest entry. I recently saw the play “Around the World in 80 Days” and thought how worry free my trip to Paris will be with Go Ahead Tours. Not at all like the folks in the play. You are my kind of tour company!
Tommy’s comments about his visit to Melk brought back fond memories of my visit there with Go Ahead. In addition to the opulent beauty he described, my group had time for a delicious lunch while there.
I had a great experience with Go Ahead last year and definitely look forward to travelling with Go Ahead again soon!
After looking at some of your tours I’m looking forward to my next vacation.
I have traveled with Go Ahead and loved every minute of my Tour of Italy! I look forward to new adventures with you!
The Tour of Italy looks like fun, while I have been there many times I think your company looks like it would be a fun way to experience the country.
I am looking forward to a trip to Ireland so that I can meet my relatives for the first time and walk upon my Grandfather’s land. I think that Go Ahead Tours can make this dream come true.
Reading everyone’s comments makes me even more anxious to retire and fully take advantage of all the great adventures Go Ahead tours makes available!
I think the name for the blog should be either:
get going blog
or
goto go blog
Both incorporated from GoahEadTours.com/GO
I am hoping to travel to Ireland in 2011 with my adult children and their spouses. Any recommendations would be great. My Son loves to golf so that would be once important criteria. I am 100% Irish and have never been there myself.
I can’t wait to go on my tour with Go Ahead Tours….less then 2 months now!!!!
Being 65 years “young,” I plan on fulfilling my bucket list. To date my life has been filled with adventure and wonderful learning experiences and I have no intention of slowing down. I paraglided off the Kleine Matterhorn in Zermatt, Switzerland from 10,000 feet and landed in the valley one-half hour later. I learned what it’s like to sour like a bird over the Matterhorn. I white water rafted down the Colorado River, sleeping under the stars. I put my life in the hands of a mule as we climbed to the top of Yosemite Falls. This is the ultimate experrience of learning how to “trust.” I attended the winter olympics in Val Thorens, France skiing from venue to venue. I climbed Mt. Washington (New Hampshire) and found out that I can be frightened yet still succeed. I bicycled up Mt. Greylock in the beautiful Berkshire Mounts (Massachusetts) and found out fitness does pay off! I could go on and on, but the list is just too long. I share this with you as encouragement to experience and learn what this wonderous world has to offer, be it on a budget (did that) or first class (did that). The important thing is to make it a “priority,” plan it and go ahead and have the time of your life!
I really love the concept of Go Ahead Tours, especially the ability a traveler has to see things at one’s own pace. Continued success to your company!
After five years of traveling with students with another one of your companies, I’m looking forward to traveling with adults! I already have several destinations in mind.
I hope to take a Go Ahead Tour of Italy once I graduate college!
GoAhead has some really good deals from what I’ve seen on our e-mails. We have just discovered them and hope to take advantage of some of their offerings in the future.
I have been dreaming of traveling the world since I was 8 years old.
For my daughters sweet sixteen she asked for a trip to Paris instead of a party. So Paris it was. The family had a wonderful time , that was summer of 2006.
Summer of 2007 London we got an amazing deal .
My husband I have been dreaming of Italy ,but with 2 kids in
out of state colleges money is tight. Hopefully , once are youngest graduates we will fufill our dream to Italy.
Creative people think of creative things… blog contest is such a great idea
A good blog with honest and informative feedback can help one decide when choosing a trip!
Anyone have anything to blog on about Brazil. We are cruising there next week.
Costa Rica was not a place where I expected to have the most unique, thought-revealing moment in my life. I met a bonobo who wanted to hold my hand. It was that simple. How many hands of humans had he held? I didn’t care, he wanted mine and in that moment I realized the one-ness of life on earth. Humans my have the largest brains and thus, put themselves at the top, but that moment made me realize that we are not the “Yertle, the Turtle” we think we are, but simply a dot on the circle which, as Joni Mitchel sings, goes ’round and ’round.
To travel the world….that is my dream. One day soon, I hope to take a trip through Go Ahead!
Go with Go Ahead for a great experience. Have not been disappointed.
Hopefully sometime in the future we will be able to fullfill a lifelong dream of visiting Mallorca Spain, birthplace of my great grandparents.
I hope to be able to take a Goahead Vacations tour some day…
I, too, have a trip planned to Italy in May with Go Ahead and I so appreciated reading what Patricia from South Carolina had to say about her trip to Rome…I’m counting the days!!
In 2006 my wife and I did the Londe, Paree, and Roma tour: all have wonderful rivers and bridges that you can cross over and back several times a day.
I have just returned from leading a student tour with Go Ahead’s sister company EF Tours. Our tour director told us about Go Ahead and my boyfriend and I are excited to try one of their tours with our parents. If these tours are organized at all like those with EF we’ll be in for an excellent time!
Like the song says”Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind”. Thanks to GoAhead, they’ll always be there and there will be more to be added on our next tour.
I recall the wonderful time in a Dublin Pub when a local asked me where I was from, “Texas” I replied. The mans faced lit up and he said “TEXAS? HE’S FROM TEXAS! I was not allowed to pay for another Guiness from that moment to when I staggered out the door. A wonderful loving people, the Irish. As are all those I’ve met in Italy and England. I will soon be venturing beyond those points, god willing.
My husband I celebrated our 35th anniversary and traveled to South Africa to see our son. What an adventure! Our guide Frank gave us an experience of a lifetime.
Go Ahead Tours gave us the comfort of guided travel with excellent commentary and no driving hassels … plus the ability and time to seek out distant cousins in a remote Italian village. Our Go Ahead guide, Enrico, was instrumental in finding the village on a hiking map since it was not listed on any road maps. Our free day in Sorrento allowed us to rent a car and find my ancestral village with no problems at all. Now I have gained an extended family that had lost touch with their American cousins for more than 50 years.
I haven’t traveled with Go Ahead tours as yet, but they sound great!
I’m pleased to hear that Go Ahead’s is a green building with a high rating in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. I work for a company in a green building–we’re very proud of that and cognizant of it every day. Good job, Go Ahead Tours!
Donna from Kenmore, WA
I think the blog is a great idea and will provide a lot of travelers with great insights.
I’m ready! Go Ahead looks fabulous!!
I want to go to Egypt! my life dream!
Having just returned from our Egypt tour in January 2010, after having led tours for many years, I was totally impressed with the organization, meals and accommodation which were offered on this amazing tour. I was rather hesitant about travelling to Egypt; however, I felt more safe here than in countries which are more developed. I am looking forward to returning to Egypt with another group in the near future. Basking in the sun, sipping mint tea, while watching the felucas float by in Aswan, is an unforgettable memory.
I have had the good fortune to travel with GoAhead Tours on two different occasions. This company is by far the best that I have ever traveled with and I have traveled throughout most of the world. The ability to stretch out payments for each trip is great since I am retired and on a fixed income. I am also impressed by the reasonableness of the costs of Go Ahead Tours. Looking forward to booking a vacation to Egypt with Go Ahead in 2011. In the meantime I plan to relive my travel adventures through the blogs posted by other travel buds.
I love your catalogs and website, now I have a blog to satisfy my wanderlust in between travels.
Wow some of these post are amazing. I love that Kati from Georgia met her soul mate on a beach far away from home.
Traveling is what it’s all about for me. Love to read about others sharing the same passion. Thank you Go Ahead Tours!!!
Travelling enriches your life in a way that nothing else can. It is one of the best things in life and should be enjoyed!
Excited about this contest!!!!! Good luck to everyone!
What a great opportunity! My husband and I traveled with Go Ahead back in 2004 and are ready for another wonderful adventure!
I would like to name the website:
Share the World with GoAhead
My husband and I have traveled with Go Ahead four times. We are planning an trip in June to Ireland. Can’t wait. What a great idea to have a blog.
My daughter and I went to Ireland in 2004. She so badly wanted a mark in her passport and between her classes and my time, this is where we went for a few days. We crammed a lot of sightseeing into those days. We walked around Dublin, in fact, the first day there, we got rain, then sleet, and finally sunshine. It was the first week in May too. We took a bus trip to Galway and wandered around there also. It was fantastic.
The people were extremely friendly. We stopped a lady on the street in Dublin and asked her directions and she told us in detail and then proceeded to ask us where we were staying, so that if someone else asked about that particular hotel she would know what kind of rating to give them. It was great.
Because we had only a few days, Ireland is one place I will be going back and seeing the sights that I missed the first trip.
Can’t say that I was happy to read about Moscow bombings today as we are scheduled to travel there in the fall. I guess no where is truly without problems.
My friend and I are currently planning our first Go Ahead tour to France for the summer of 2011. We have had great success with Go Ahead’s sister company, EF Tours, so we are excited at the prospect of traveling with adults. The various stories I’ve read on your blog make me sure that we’ve made a good decision!
I love Go Ahead. Glad they have a blog to share stories.

In September will be my tenth trip with Go Ahead. All of the trips have been absolutely great!!!!! By traveling with Go Ahead you learn and see so much more than you would going by yourself. Plus you don’t have all the stress and worry that things might go wrong. Looking forward to Northern Italy.

I am looking forward to checking out the Go Blog…. I’m especially interested in hearing about other traveler’s trips and what they liked and didn’t like or any tips they might have…
Love GoAhead!
For efficient, informed, and relaxing travel, you can’t beat GoAhead. Have done city-stays in Rome and Paris and had the best experiences. Being able to determine your own pace and choose your own level of activities/excursions makes for a “customized” trip while still having the comfort of a group and full access to a resident guide. The perfect combination for the mature traveller.
I love reading of all your experiences, and yet one day i wish to travel and make them my own. I just returned from Iraq and would love to travel to Egypt. They are so miraculous and inspiring.
I really hope to win this contest I’m graduating this year woot woot senior 2010 and I would love a euro trip as a graduation present I totally need to discover the world
To soar – to trek – to learn this is what worldwide traveling is meant to be. This blog will be a tremendous help in securing all that and more.
Great Idea. I look forward to traveling w/goaheadtours someday. =)
I’m looking forward to going on a tour to Octoberfest and Central Europe with GoAhead Tours in September of this year with my daughter. The tour seems exciting and both of us can’t wait. We checked out other tours of this nature and this one seemed to offer the best sight-seeing package.
Oh, what a great opportunity – to win a fantastic tour with an excellent travel company! I love to travel, and Go Ahead Tours offers absolutely wonderful excursions.
My husband and I took the London, Edinburgh and Dublin Tour five years ago. It was amazing and recommed this experience to everyone. Go Ahead
This blog is great and very interesting and informative. There is nothing like travel
Travel is wonderful and so educational, this blog is great and very interesting.
I can’t wait for our next Go Ahead Tour! We are torn between Antartica, Galapagos & Peru, and Australia! And today I just saw the new Turkey tour and I want to do that…so many places, so little time.
We have taken 3 trips with Go Ahead so far and have always been delightfully satisfied with not only the trips but also with their customer service – with Go Ahead you leave the logististics to them and just enjoy yourself and the beauty the world has to offer. If your thinking about using Go Ahead, don’t wait you won’t be disappointed!!!
Looking forward to Israel in November!
All the fun without all the headaches, Go Ahead Vacations are the best out there, filled with fun, laughter and relaxation!
What an amazing contest and a great idea for a blog!
I’ve loved travelling with Goahead. The itineraries are great, while on tour I feel safe but not smothered, the reading lists have been excellent to help me prepare, I’ve always received prompt service. I look forward to my next Goahead experience! Love the blog idea – will check in here often!
Some read cook books, I love cooking up new adventures and travels. Just the right amount of learning, amazement and laughter with friends new and old. Go Ahead Tours provides the starter dough that binds us all together on this planet.
Our trip to Egypt with Go Ahead in December was unbelievable because our tour guide always was prepared with information of what we where to experience at every site. this made the trip more meaningful to us.
This is a great contest. I hope I win. I’ve been dying to travel with you but have not been able to save up enough money yet. You come highly recommended!
I’ve always wanted to go on a Go Ahead tour and this might be a dream come true for me.
There’s no comparison of an individual learning about the world when it involves travelling. One can only extract so much from a textbook having a lot of the content being meaningless. One must breathe, eat and swallow first-hand experiences which make them so much more memorable and realistic.
I am a practising school teacher for the past 32 years and when it comes to a quality education , i instill the concept of travel to all my students.
Great job guys!

I think it’s fantastic that your company is taking the time to give back to your cliental. This practise is so important in the business world. You make people feel that they mean something special . Well done!
What a great name for a travel group!
Yeah…GO SEE THE WORLD, AS TIME IS FLEETING.
The beauty and history of our world is every where. Go Ahead Tours makes it possible to experience the wonder of it all.

I like Making the Most of Paradise
I love to travel and Go Ahead tours gives such a great opportunity to do that, while not breaking the bank. Their travel packages are affordable and very fun.
Go ahead offers so many exciting tours, it’s hard to choose which one to take!
I will turn the big 4-0 this year! I’m hoping to be spending it in Italy! That would be the best birthday ever!
Like the idea of the blog. Enjoy hearing about other folks tours.
My wanderlust began in 1993 with a week in London. It takes me about 4 years to save up for each of my European adventures but it is worth it. My first Go Ahead Tour trip was in November 2008 to Venice, Florence and Rome. It was the best trip ever. I will make all my future adventures with GAT!
I’m hoping to go on the Venice, Florence, and Rome tour. I’m glad to hear the positive comments!
Spending time in Italy and France with goahead tours was a fabulous experience. I highly recommend them as a tour guide.
I traveled with Go Ahead in 2007 to Italy, and am in the process of booking another trip with them…I can’t wait to return.
Being able to travel the world with friends or family is one of the best experiences anyone can have. Go Ahead’s new blog name should be “Helping Dreams Come True” or “Only in your Wildest Dream”
Its an amazing world!! thank goodness for Go Ahead Tours, they make it available to more people because of the affordability and its a HUGE value!
Traveling with Go Ahead is a great experience, and I knew it would be! In high school, I had the oppurtunity to travel with EF for two tours and had an amazing time. It helped fuel my passion for travel even more. So when it came to planning my trip to Ireland last October, I knew that Go Ahead would make sure I see the all the highlights and make my experience absolutely memorable!
Providing world experience, immersing their guests in diverse cultures, enrichment of the mind-body-spirit… Go Ahead Tours has empowered guests to explore this personal fulfillment for over 20 years.
I haven’t traveled with Go Ahead yet, but I love looking through the catalog and seeing the tour descriptions on the web site — almost as good as being there!
i travel the world on go ahead tours! i hope to take one of your trips very soon!
